Madrid's club scene splits into clear lanes: giant multi-floor institutions, serious techno rooms, dress-up reggaeton palaces, and small clubs where the music is the whole point. Here is the map, minus the affiliate-link filler.

The institutions
Teatro Kapital is the one everyone has heard of: a seven-floor former theatre near Atocha, each floor running its own sound, from reggaeton to house, stacked up to a top-floor terrace. It is big, glossy and touristy, and still worth doing once, because the scale itself is the show. Dress up, expect queues at peak time, and remember that peak time here means well after 2am.
Fabrik is the opposite trip: a warehouse-scale electronic music complex in Humanes de Madrid, well outside the city. It is a destination, not a stop on a bar crawl, and its big techno and hard-dance sessions are pilgrimage events for the Spanish electronic crowd. People organize the trip out in advance; you should sort your ride home before you go, not at 6am.
Techno and house
Mondo Disko, now resident at Sala But on Calle Barceló in the Tribunal area after years just off Gran Vía, is Madrid's long-running techno night: international headliners in a club-sized space, booked for people who check the lineup before the venue. If you care who is playing, this is usually where they are playing.
Goya Social Club is the intimate house option: a small floor, a crowd that actually dances, and programming that trusts the DJ over the spectacle. Independance Club, over on the Atocha strip next to Kapital, is the odd one out here: indie and pop anthems rather than electronic music, with a young, up-for-it crowd and free-entry lists worth checking.
Reggaeton and dress-up
Teatro Barceló, the club formerly known as Pachá Madrid, sits in a landmark 1930s building near Tribunal and remains the classic see-and-be-seen night: commercial hits, reggaeton, and a door that takes presentation seriously.
Shôko, on Calle de Toledo by Puerta de Toledo at the bottom of La Latina, leans Latin and reggaeton with a big-production feel. OH MY CLUB plays in the same flashy lane. For all three, dress properly, arrive with a balanced group, and get on a list if you can; walking up cold at peak hour is the hardest way in.
When to actually go
Madrid clubs fill late. Doors may open around midnight, but most rooms stay thin until 1:30 or 2am, and the peak lands deep in the early hours; the big ones typically run until around 6. If you are on a free list with a time window, that window is your schedule: arrive inside it, then hold out for the peak. On big-name nights, buy the entrada in advance, because the door queue at 2:30am is where good nights go to die.
Lists, guest lists and entradas
There are three ways into a Madrid club. Lista: sign up through a promoter, a DM or a form the club posts, usually for free or reduced entry before a stated hour; arrive after that hour and the deal evaporates. Entrada: a ticket bought in advance, standard for big nights and touring DJs. Puerta: just show up and pay the door, which is fine on normal nights and risky when a big name is on.
Rules of thumb: lists are real but time-boxed, cover often includes a drink, and prices change per event, so never trust a number from an old blog post. The venue's own Instagram post for that night is the source of truth.
